What is IBISWorld’s method for translating its reports into French?

Our reports are authored in English and then translated into French using a quality-controlled process that combines advanced translation technology with human review.

How accurate are the French translations?

Our French-language reports are designed to meet high standards for clarity, tone and contextual accuracy. In launching French translations, we partnered with native French-speaking translators to conduct a thorough quality review of the translated content. This helped us ensure that industry-specific terminology and insights were conveyed effectively from the start. To monitor accuracy, we continuously evaluate client feedback and re-engage with translators when needed to maintain translation quality.

Are IBISWorld’s translations based on Canadian French or European French?

Our translations are based on European French.

How does IBISWorld's translation system differ from Google Translate or other free tools?

Unlike general-purpose translation tools, our system is tailored to deliver more accurate and nuanced French translations for industry-specific content. Our approach incorporates advanced translation technology designed to interpret not just words, but also tone and intent—resulting in clearer, more context-aware translations.

Can I toggle between English and French within the same session?

Yes, you can switch between English and French in the same session.

Does this feature require additional licensing or fees?

No, this feature now comes standard on any membership that includes Canada or France Industry Reports.

How do I enable the translation language toggle on my account?

To enable the French translations, you will need to click the “globe” icon in the top toolbar on your homepage and then again when you land on an Industry Report. Once you have made your selection, your preference will be saved and any future logins or visits to Canada or France Industry Reports will default to French.

If I have already configured the French translation toggle on my France reports, do I need to take any additional steps to see it on my Canada reports?

No, if your default language preferences were set to French upon launch of the France Industry Reports, you are not required to take any additional steps to view the Canada Industry Reports in French.

If my preferences are set to French and I download a report, will the PDF be in French or English?

The PDF will be in French.

Does Phil appear in French when I have the translation toggle engaged?

No. Phil (IBISWorld’s AI-powered economist) will always appear in English, but you can speak to Phil in French if you’d like and his replies will be translated using OpenAI’s translation tools.
