UK ESG Risk Scores

What’s included in UK ESG Risk Scores.

What is IBISWorld’s UK ESG chapter?

The UK ESG product is an add-on chapter that is available for all UK SIC and Specialised reports. It offers risk ratings and analysis on the environmental, social and governance (ESG) aspects of UK industry operations.

Why is ESG important?

The UK government has signalled its intention for a green recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, regulatory focus on climate-related aspects of business operation is expected to increase in the future, with plans in place to introduce mandatory reporting of climate-related financial information across the economy by 2025.

Similarly, growing consumer focus on working standards and rising environmental consciousness threaten to reduce demand for businesses that fall short of social and environmental standards.

Key ESG issues for UK industries

The ESG chapter allows you to better understand the core issues driving environmental, social or governance risk within a given industry, and which issues may require additional due diligence based on each issue’s individual risk score.

The Environmental Risk Score for an industry

You’ll find the 3 key ESG issues that are most meaningful to each industry along with call preparation questions that directly relate to each of these issues. You can use these key issues and talking points to guide your conversations with your clients. For example, they may help you discuss the impact of ESG on their business operations.

Assess ESG risk

Our ESG Risk Score Ratings allow you to quickly and easily identify the level of risk your clients may present. We assign risk scores to every UK industry for several categories within the environmental, social and governance areas, as well as an overall ESG risk score.

These scores range from 1 to 9, with a higher number representing a higher level of risk in respect to the industry’s performance and possible compliance issues, litigation claims, the likelihood of detriments to society, potential defamation of public image and other ESG factors.

When you subscribe to the ESG chapter, you’ll have access to an ESG Risk scores list that includes the scores of all UK industries, allowing you to easily compare your clients’ industries with the rest of the UK economy.
