Which LGAs and districts have local data?
All Local Government Areas in Australia and all districts in the United Kingdom are included. Download lists of Australian LGAs and UK districts.
Where is the local data sourced from?
Australia
We source the Australian LGA-level enterprise data from the Australian Bureau of Labor Statistics (ABS) Census and the state-level enterprise data from the ABS's Counts of Businesses release.
United Kingdom
We source the UK's local establishment data, specifically the dataset on local units by industry and employment size band, from Nomis's UK Business Counts.
Where is the population data sourced from?
Population data is available for all our major report collections. It is generally sourced from the country’s primary statistics agency:
Australia: Australian Bureau of Statistics
United Kingdom: Nomis
How is the local data forecasted?
Establishment (UK) and enterprise (Australia) data at the LGA/district level is forecasted for the current year using either linear regression or a moving average—whichever method best fits the historical trend data for each area.
Can I download the local data?
You can download the regional data table, but not the LGA/district-level data table.
Is this data available through API?
No, the local data is not currently available through IBISWorld's API. We expect to have it available by the end of 2025.
Is this data available through Phil?
